Top 11 best games in Zelda

Now more than ever, it’s time to look back and think of the best Zelda games ever released. With the recent success of Breath of the Wild, there are many new fans of this famous franchise, which is over 30 years old. She broke up the series with the introduction of a new mechanism and started a lively debate in the Zelda community about which the Zelda games really were the best.

Well, I’m here to do it! Here’s a list of my 11 most popular Zelda games. This list contains only the official releases, i.e. all games in the official timeline plus Breath of Wildlife.

What are the defining aspects of the Zeldagame?

Zelda means something special to everyone. We all have different ideas about what Zelda makes, and you never know what to expect from each record.

These are the characteristics that I consider to be part of the basic formula that Zelda makes:

  • Structure and representation of the world
  • Dungeons and Surveys
  • Key elements and struggles
  • History and character development
  • Global impact

The legend of Zelda: The oracle of the centuries and the oracle of the seasons, the source of the statue: Nintendo

Just as Pokemon always releases 2 games, Zelda does it here with oracles of ages and seasons.

Originally, the games on the Gameboy Color had to be played in reverse order, and you could use a connecting cable between the games! You had to finish both games to get the whole story!

With the Harp of the Centuries, Link can travel through time, while the Seasons Staff manages the seasons. They were an integral part of history and allowed us to travel the earth and solve puzzles.

Games are like Link Awakening. I hope that after the recent success of the re-release of the Nintendo Switch, Oracle games will be re-released next time!

This first recording on 3DS brought new innovative and complex puzzles, a newly designed control circuit and a continuation of the Wind Waker story. We don’t often see a direct sequel to the Zelda series, which made this game particularly exciting.

The sail will of course come back from Wind Waker, but this time you have a fully customizable steamer! Take Captain Linebeck, who calls himself a real man of the sea. His personality can’t be the other way around anymore. Linebeck offers the comic relief of a plot and can be a very strange person.

Even the puzzles in this game make you scratch your head. You’re screaming into the DS microphone up to your lungs: Give me your hand to save you! There are many more puzzles like this you can’t miss!

The legend of Zelda: Link Awakening, source of the image : Nintendo

This game really sets a lot of basic standards for the Zelda series. Zelda 1 created important characters and themes, but Link’s Awakening brought the linear structure of the story and the overall magic of Zelda. Zelda 1 doesn’t really have a story, except for a few pages in the manual and a short game text. That’s why Link’s Awakening is so special.

Start with an opening cut. Link fights the lightning that falls on his wooden boat as he struggles against the huge waves. He drowns and washes a strange island on the coast to find a strange egg. This egg contains the sacred fish of the wind, which sleeps well. You must defeat the nightmares of 8 dungeons to collect the tools that will wake him up!

Only then can you leave the island. The presentation was clear and cheerful, but the inhabitants of the island of Cocholint are not aware of the darkness that reigns in their humble country.

It’s a game you won’t find in Zelda’s many top 10 lists. What a shame! Minish Cap is a portable game, but it really brings a lot of new features in terms of new characters, charming presentation and unique gameplay. It’s also one of the few games not made by Nintendo.

You will meet the Minish, who have lived secretly under the hills for generations. They are very close to the royal family, and most villagers consider them a fairy tale. The Minish is only an inch tall, and they say only children can see it!

The connection allows you to meet Pikori, the name the Chileans gave to the Minish, and to discover the magical green hat that reduces him to a Minish. Here you will find all kinds of new and unique puzzles to solve. Chuchus was never considered a tough opponent, but fighting them as a Minish will make you reconsider how to defeat him.

The Kinstones are objects found during your adventure and have been the subject of a massive quest. The problem is, you can only find half! You need to search the earth and find the man with the missing half. They say if you put two pieces together, something good will happen!

Spirit Tracks only follows Phantom Hourglass hourglasses because they have many identical elements in their hair.

Many machine heads are similar, but also adapted to give a unique feeling. Instead of travelling by boat, Link travels by steam train through this new country! In fact, at the beginning of the game, hurry to town to take the engineering exam. Look how cute the reference in her little engineering outfit is!

As the adventure progresses, you’ll find more and more train tracks that will allow you to travel even further. To do this, you have to go to every dungeon to meet the Lokomo spirits who help restore the land. They will also work on the reconstruction of the Tower, which is the key to the control of great evil.

And yes, you can whistle on the train whenever you want!

Twilight Princess can be considered one of the darkest games because of its realistic direction and plot. Hyrule was captured by Twilight, who turns people into ghosts. Fortunately, Linc turns into a wolf, because he has the trinitarian power of courage.

In your quest to restore the light in Hyrule, use familiar tools like Link. But there are new puzzles and new bosses that can only be solved like a wolf! Your dark companion Midna, who rides a wolf staff, will help you in your quest for Zelda.

Twilight Princess also has the most varied dungeon game of all the Zelda games. You will float in the air with the cannon, dive deep under the lake and even travel through time. Heaven is home to one of the most bizarre races of the Zelda legends, the Ookku, considered even more advanced than the Sheikh tribe. You’ll also use the Dominion Staff, one of my favourite Zelda items, to take control of old footage.

The legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, source: Nintendo

The Wind Waker was a very sensitive subject in the Zelda community. When the game was released, it was at a time when games and hardware began to insist on more realistic graphics. It left many people confused about the artistic style in a cellular tone.

For me, Zelda’s appearance is important, but that doesn’t mean she has to be realistic. Each game uses its own artistic style, which is best suited to this adventure. Wind Waker is no different. You will see some of Zelda’s most expressive and vivid characters.

It really is one of Zelda’s outdoor games, when you go out to sea with your faithful companion, the King of the Red Lions. You will also meet Tetra and the whole pirate team, who will really get in your way and put you in bad situations. On each of the 50 islands there are treasures to be found and secrets to reveal.

With the Wind Waker tool, which looks like a stick, you can use the power of the gods to steer the wind and summon ancient powers to help you on your travels. You’ll also immerse yourself in the history of Zelda as you learn what happened to the legendary land of Hyrule under the waves.

The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time, source of the image: Nintendo

This is the first Zelda game to move in 3D space, and it has a special place in my heart. Just as Link’s Awakening captured the basic mechanism of the Zelda series, Ocarina of Time did the same for the 3D games that would follow.

Several famous places of the Zelda Laura have their origins here. The Jerudo Valley, Hyrule Field and Zora Estate are places that can be found in many games of Zelda. The musical motifs from these regions are among the most popular of the series.

Many of the legends of the Zelda series have been discovered here at a pivotal point in the Zelda chronology. With the legendary Master Sword and Time Ocarina in his hands, Link holds the fate of the kingdom in his hands. In Okarina time you will discover the meaning of the Trinity and the origin of the Hyrule.

You play both the children’s and the adult version of Link, each with its own elements and features. We literally travel through time to defeat the evil Ganondorf as he tries to win the power of the Trinity.

The gameplay elements introduced into the game have shocked the entire game industry. Have you ever played a game with a target or a castle when fighting enemies? It was Ocarina of Time that made it known to the world, and this feature is still used in games today.

The breath of the savages shines because they let go of all the rules. The game is total and absolute freedom. Would you like to try playing Ganon, the boss, in the first 20 minutes of the game? Of course you can try to make it, but you could die on the way. You can go to Ganon and find out that all you have is a stick and a pot lid!

To the twittering of the birds, the sound of the wind and the roar of the water, Breath of the Wild has the most living and breathing world of any game I’ve ever played, not just Zelda.

Physics breaks the game completely. You can literally go anywhere and do anything, your imagination is the only limit. There are different ways to solve each puzzle, obstacle and task.

Linc has no memory of the war that wounded him so badly that he had to rest for 100 years. The history of the game is illustrated by the memory bursts Link has had since that time. That’s really very clever! Trying to keep the game free worked for sure, but I wanted more.

Character development

The legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, image source: Nintendo

Skyward Sword has the most extensive history of any Zelda game. period. It’s the only game where they started developing the story. Prepare for an adventure full of broken hearts and tears as you witness the birth of Hyrule, the most iconic country in the series.

Time travel or manipulation is now a kind of trombone. Skyward Sword is doing the best it can. Time zone changers are used to literally spin time around you. Even the famous time when the ocarina was made from these stones!

These stones can be found throughout the desert province of Lanairou, because there was once a thriving robotic civilization that used these stones as a source of energy.

As the stones break, the surrounding terrain returns to a time of lush greenery, vast oceans and burgeoning technological progress due to the rapid climate change caused by the desert. She makes some pretty complex puzzles! I loved swimming across the ocean and watching the sand turn towards the water as I ventured.

The battle is also unique. The Wii Motion Plus controller allows you to cut Link’s sword in 8 different directions. This was necessary to defeat particularly difficult enemies.

The legend of Zelda: The Major’s mask, source of the statue: Nintendo

No other released Zelda resembles the Major’s mask. With his dark history, abundance of ancillary functions and general time management, he really stands out.

When the moon falls to the ground and the citizens walk in despair and fear, the moon stops in just 3 days for Link. You constantly go through this three-day cycle, coming ever closer to stop the evil that is in the Major’s mask and the child’s skull that belongs to him.

This connection should relieve the suffering and help the dead to continue the adventure. These people are cared for by Link using 24 unique masks, each with their own capabilities. Some masks even allow the Link to transform into other races present in this new country called Termina.

These mask transformations are so entertaining. Too often we get stuck in a party if the link has a limited number of moves and tools that usually don’t change much with each party. Not with the Major’s mask on. The communication can take different forms that give him a broader tour to explore the Kingdom and defeat his enemies.

You want to save cows from an alien invasion? To infiltrate a pirate stronghold? To attend the wedding ceremony in the last hours of the moonrise! This is just a foretaste of some of the complex tasks you take on as a member of the Bombers’ Secret Justice Society! If you want to join this exclusive club, you have to be willing to play hide and seek with pretentious boys…

It’s hard to say how much the Zelda series has meant to me all my life. I hope you’ve found some games you’d like to look at and understand the Zelda series in general!

But most of all, I hope you come out with the best sense of the magic of The Legend of Zelda and what Zelda, the Zelda game, does!
