Borderlands 2 is a game that takes a while, but once you play it, you will spend a lot of time because of all the content. That’s why it’s very important to choose the character you want, because if you don’t like the character you’ve chosen, you’ll have to start the whole game over again to choose another character. Be prepared to sacrifice a lot of time for this game, because it’s huge!
You can choose from six different characters, two of which are DLC characters only. The other 4 are the most important starting symbols. Each of them has specific skills and tree abilities that they need to acquire, and it takes time to fully understand how things work. Don’t forget that the maximum level is 72, so don’t forget that you will spend a lot of time with one character.
Each of them has their own story, but today I’m not here to tell it. I’ll inform you about all the character’s skills and their skill trees in which you can place your improvement points. Don’t rush to choose your character at first, because you can choose a character you don’t necessarily like.
Here are six characters you can play as in Borderland 2:
- Exton (command)
- Maya (Serena)
- El Salvador (Gunzerker)
- Zero0 (killer)
- Measuring instrument (multi-range)
- War (Psycho)
Looks like : That’s why you’re so weak in BL2.
Eston is a very good character to choose because it is so easy to use. His power is called Saber Turret, in which he can use a special Dahl Saber Turret, a 360° rotating barrel. It contains a lot of updates, as we’ll see later, and you can use it almost anywhere. The tower takes about 20 seconds and the cooling takes about 42 seconds.
His melee weapon is a tomahawk and does a little more damage than other melee miniatures. The class mod is displayed as a device on the right shoulder and changes as your class mod changes. He was a soldier Dahl, but he left without excuse and became a mercenary. These are Ackston’s three power trees:
Partisan Tree – This is his first skill tree. The goal is to make him fight faster and improve the ability of his saber tower to carry out continuous attacks with high damage levels. The fan tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one upgrade slot, which can contain a few upgrade points in each level.
Powder shaft – This is the second capacity shaft. It focuses on medium explosives and weapon damage. It also allows you to use the tower to distract enemies and increases long-term combat readiness. The Powder Tree has 6 levels, and each of them adds at least one update location, which can correspond to a few update points in each level.
Survival tree – This is his third and final skill tree. It focuses on strengthening his protection and basic capacities and helps to treat him in very poor health. The sabre tower can also cool down more quickly, so that it can be spawned more often. The Survival Tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one update location that can each contain a few update points.
Maya is the siren of the Storage Hunter group and also very funny because she has all the power. Their main ability is to use their powers as a siren and eliminate the enemy in another dimension. Basically, it can freeze the enemy and cause damage during the process. Freezing comes with an upgrade option that allows you to do more damage while it is still frozen.
Its ability is actually called Phase Block, and it is extremely useful for crowd control in a cooperative and lonely environment. Because she and Lilith are the only mermaids who know handsome Jack, he’s looking for them. So, at the beginning of the game, Maya was on the train to Pandora. Here are the three capacity trees Maya has:
Movement axis – This is their first capacity axis. It focuses on improving the ability to block crowd control and protection phases, and brainwash enemies as they collide. The motion tree has 6 levels and each level adds at least one update location, which can contain a few update points in each level.
Harmony Tree – This is your second skill tree She focuses on improving her healing abilities on herself and her teammates and helps her increase the damage per second. There are 6 levels in the harmony tree, and each of them adds at least one update location into which a few update points can be inserted.
Cataclysm Tree – This is their third and final capacity tree. It focuses on all elementary effects such as fire, acid, snails and electric shocks. The Cataclysm tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one update slot, each of which can correspond to a few update points.
El Salvador (Gunzerker)
Salvador must be my favorite character among all the others, if only because of his general skills. It is a Rambo of all classes because it has the possibility to use two weapons at the same time for a short period of time. As long as he is in this state of Ganzerking, he has a chance to regain his health and his ammunition, and his statistics will improve.
In fact, he is the only Borderland 2 treasure hunter born and raised on Pandora. Charging the Hunzecker’s basic capabilities takes 42 seconds, the duration is 20 seconds. He is also wanted for a number of crimes, including cannibalism, public indecency, theft and arson. Here are the three artisanal trees that exist in El Salvador:
Yacht boom – This is his first skill boom. It focuses on the possibility of replacing certain weapons and accessories during the loading process. It also gives it a variety of weapon capabilities. The Gun Lust tree has 6 levels, and each of them adds at least one update location, which can correspond to a few update points each.
Panic shaft – This is the second capacity shaft. She focuses on equipping her weapons with additional ammunition and also helps to improve the statistics on Gunzerking’s capabilities. It also reduces the cooling speed for certain capacities. The Rampage tree has 6 levels and each level adds at least one update location, which can each contain a few update points.
Muscle boom – This is his third and last capacity boom. He focuses on absorbing physical injuries for himself and his teammates and helping to regenerate their health. It also allows him to acquire certain physical skills for combat. The Brawn tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one update location that can each contain a few update points.
Zero is a very mysterious but very cool character that Gearbox has placed in Borderlands 2. Nobody knows who he is or what he looks like under a mask. All we know is that he’s a killer who gets paid for his missions and eventually helps the warehousemen find the warehouse. He is not only in Borderlands 2, but also in other games in the series as NPC.
His special ability, called Decepti0n, allows him to lower the holographic bait to distract his enemies. As long as this bait is used, it becomes invisible, making it a means of escaping danger. During his invisibility, the damage increases and he helps to destroy stronger enemies. Here are the three capacity shafts Zer0 has:
Sniper Tree – This is his first skill tree. It focuses on weapons such as sniper rifles to do more damage when the enemy is hit in the head or at a critical point. It also allows you to cause more damage when you critically hit the enemy. The sniping tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one update slot that can contain a few update points.
Treacherous Tree – This is his second skill tree. He focuses on improving his basic skills and the skills that help him in close combat and melee. This also reduces the loading speed. The delicate tree has 6 levels, each adding at least one update location into which a few update points can be inserted.
Blood tree – This is his third and last tree. It focuses mainly on melee weapons and discretion. This tree is definitely not for runners. It also promotes the regeneration of the shields and thus helps maintain your health. The Bloodshed Tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one upgrade location that can contain a few upgrade points in each level.
Measuring instrument (multi-range)
Gaige is the first character to be released in DLC for a Borderlands franchise, and the only way to use it is to have a GOTY edition or to buy it. His main skill is called Deathtrap, where a robot named D374-TP comes to help him in battle. Many players think this is the easiest and most difficult game to play because of all the variations the trees add to the skill.
The death trap only lasts 60 seconds with Gaige. He has the longest time to learn basic skills than any other jumper in the game. Gage loves muffins and hot chocolate, and his favorite color is purple. Here are three power trees that Gage has:
Best Friends Forever – This is your first skill tree. It focuses on surviving and increasing the damage and protecting the deadly trap. It also gives you bonuses if you have a full magazine in your weapon. The Best Friends Forever tree has 6 levels, and each of them adds at least one update slot, which may correspond to a few update points each.
Small Big Problem Tree – This is your second capacity tree. It focuses on the elemental effects of you and Deathtrap and gives Deathtrap a new type of weapon called heat rays. It also allows Deathtrap to simulate any element it comes into contact with. The small problem tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one update location that can match a few update points in each of these levels.
Orderly Chaos Tree – This is their third and final capacity tree. It focuses on a capacity tree called Anarchy, which increases the damage of all weapons, but also decreases their accuracy over time. It also makes it possible to reload weapons faster. The Orderly Chaos Tree has 6 levels, and each of them adds at least one update location, which can each contain multiple update points.
War is the second character to be released in DLC for the Borderlands franchise, and the only way to use it is to have a GOTY edition or to buy it. Krieg seems to suffer from a dissociative identity disorder (IDD) because he argues with an inner voice created by traumatic experiences, although his case clearly differs from a typical diagnosis.
His main skill is called Buzz Axe Rampage. Basically, it lets you swing the axe very quickly, while causing heavy damage to the enemies. You can also throw an axe if you want to hit someone from a distance. It also does 500% more damage in melee combat than any other jumper, and its cruising speed is 33% higher.
Blood tree – This is his first skill tree. He focuses on melee combat with weapons and also improves his skills, especially in the areas of injuries and health. It also gives bonuses for murders committed with a firearm. The Bloodlust Tree has 6 levels, and each level adds at least one upgrade location that can take a few upgrade points in each level.
Mania axis – This is the second capacity axis. It focuses on damage and improvements in melee combat. This is primarily a high-risk, high-reward skill tree, because you have to take damage from enemies to make your Buzz Axe Madness regenerate faster. There are 6 levels in the mania tree, and each of them adds at least one update location that can contain a few update points in each level.
Tree born from hell – This is his third and last tree. It focuses on elementary effects such as fire. With this skill tree you essentially set yourself on fire to cause more damage to your opponents. It also increases weapon and melee damage, and can be a very good skill tree for drilling. There are 6 levels in the Hellborn tree, and each of them adds at least one update location, which can contain a few update points in each level.
Which one is most suitable for single player play?
Axton – This is probably the best character to choose if you only want to go into Borderlands 2 because he doesn’t need the help of his teammates to survive. All his skills can be used independently.
Maya – She is also a very good character to choose when she plays alone, just because her ability allows her to freeze enemies and control the masses of enemies who try to kill her.
Gaige – This is also a good choice for solitaire players, because the Death Trap takes a full minute. Since its ability lasts for a long time, it is a good choice to use it when captured by enemies.
What is the best option to play together?
El Salvador – It is not at all suitable for solitaire players, because it has only Gunzerkunsten. The best thing this ability does is to help the teammate when he needs to be rescued. This makes him the perfect character for when you want to play with friends.
Null0 – He is not a good character for lonely players, because his ability to become invisible is very useful to help a friend who is depressed or in trouble. I strongly recommend the use of Zer0 with friends, because it’s not very good if you’re a lone wolf with it.
War – It is the worst choice to use a solo, just because he can die very easily. As I said before, the trees with their power are a very high risk/high reward, so if you have friends who can help you, I advise you to use it.
If you need more explanation than an article, here’s a great video I found on the same subject.
Borderlands 2 is a very big game, and you have to make some sacrifices to try to get through it. It is therefore very important to understand which character should be used. The six characters you can choose all have their own stories to tell and a dialogue to listen to. So if you’ve already beaten a game with one character, try it again with another character, because that changes the gameplay a lot.
